Fall Contact Improvisation Workshop + Jam in Los Angeles
Join us for our Fall Contact Series - a monthly Contact Improvisation (CI) workshop and jam designed for beginners and seasoned movers alike. Whether you’ve never heard of CI or have explored it in other spaces, this series is a welcoming place to connect, play, and discover new ways of relating through movement. Come dance, connect, and discover how Contact Improvisation can expand your relationships, your body awareness, and your sense of community.
What is Contact Improvisation?
Contact Improvisation is a movement practice rooted in touch, weight-sharing, and listening through the body. It’s part dance, part play, and part exploration of relationship. No choreography, no steps to memorize…just curiosity, connection, and presence.
Why practice CI?
Beyond being fun and energizing, Contact Improvisation offers powerful lessons for relationships and community. It teaches us how to stay grounded while connected, how to play with power and surrender, and how to find fluidity in moments of uncertainty. Practicing CI can deepen intimacy, foster resilience, and expand the ways we relate both on and off the dance floor.
Each session begins with a guided class led by an experienced CI teacher. After class, the space opens into a “jam” - a supportive container to explore at your own pace. Move with others, solo, or simply rest and witness. You’ll learn simple, accessible practices that translate directly into everyday life and relationships:
Attunement & listening beyond words
Nervous system regulation & co-regulation
Exploring consent through subtle signals
Welcoming tension and conflict as part of the dance
Finding ease and less effort through mutuality
Trusting intuition and adapting to change
Balancing self-awareness with connection
